To start off with, I've heard nothing but bad things about Comcast. When I attempted to sign up for the service, it took me two days and over an hour of being on hold or transferred.
Comcast, determines which call center to direct you to based on your phone number. This works great if you have a land line, but if you are using a cell phone with an area code from the other side of the country, things tend to not go smoothly.
After I finally got a hold of someone, Comcast stated that they could not create a new account for me because the previous tenant (rented a house) never canceled the service. They said it was up to me to track down this person and get them to cancel. I disagreed and was pretty upset with the company for wasting my time and generally being unhelpful.
So, I went in person to a local Comcast service center. And everything worked just fine, no mention of installation problems due to the previous tenant. It was like night and day, the in person support redeemed my opinion of the company.
Installation went smooth, but the charges were ridiculous. They did inform me of them, but in my previous experience with Time Warner Cable and Cox, I have never seen them so high. The cable internet had problems getting working, but the tech told me they were having trouble with the local nodes. After about 5 hours of restarting the modem and my router, the internet worked and it has been smooth sailing since.
Speeds are pretty good, and the service is fairly cheap. I am receiving much better service from Comcast than I expected.
