Out here in Metro phoenix your choices are Qwest or Cox for high speed internet. My experiences with our Qwest service at work were less than stellar, so I opted for the local cable company to provide my home service instead.
No need for an install kit for me, I knew what I wanted and already had an SB5100 modem and coax wiring, and a wireless router. I ordered the service in the morning, and the modem was online with full speed in time for dinner. The only stumbling block I ran into was that one of the cable jacks in the complex here isn't actually wired up with cable. Once I moved the modem to an active jack the signal was solid. The tech I talked to on the phone was friendly and knowledgeable.
Package ordered is 12 Mbit/1 Mbit up. Speakeasy tests seem to reflect those numbers. Ping times from here to dslreports are stable, in the range of 77-85 ms. Skype also seems to work well on this connection.
So far, no complaints. Speeds are very close to what is advertised, and the stability has also been good.
Overall, it's a good ISP and a decent experience. Yeah, it's way too expensive, but the service is very solid and better than the alternatives.
