    My Other Reviews·Verizon FIOS
    **UPDATE**

    March 2009

Its been quite a number of years since i've updated my review of this service. I signed up for what at the time was Southwestern Bell DSL while in High School living with parents(This was back when i joined DSLReports many years ago lol). Once I went to college they left the service on. They have kept the same modem and setup the past 7 years as well keeping the the same price. I called in to get the newer AT&T | Yahoo DSL Express pricing to help them cut the cost in half (they were paying $49.99, now just $25.00; I wish I would have remembered to do this several years back).

Being curious I spoke with an agent in Tier 2 and found my parents are served straight out the CO at a distance of ~9750ft. After all these years their connection has been stable and only went down due to Hurricanes Rita & Gustav.

    Original Review

I live in a small rural town just north of Beaumont. That's about 75 mi east on Houston on I-10. I was just messing round on DSLReports.com and found out DSL was now in my town. I Called up SWBell, signed up and it was very fast. For $50 a month I am getting 1.554 (really round 1.29) MBps. The Equipment was easy to install and only took about 10 min total then I was connected. Not very long waiting period and I received the Welcome Kit Sooner than expected. I was scheduled to have service turned on March 26, but here I am it March 20 and I am up and running. Overall I congratulate SWBell on their service and Reliability.
