The area where I live is very rural. I am currently 14000 feet from the Homestead CO through solid copper and barely get 1.2M/256. Due to the AT&T/Bellsouth merger, all upgrades to my location have been postponed/cancelled. My neighbor across the street is a DSL installer now working with AT&T and he is in the same boat.
My line quality suffered a couple of months ago, but after having my NID replaced it seems to be coming back to normal. I had a broken cover that was causing rain/moisture to short out the lines.
There are other solutions available in my area (cable, wireless, satellite), but this is the best deal here for the price.
