Blackberry 8330

Hey all, I have a blackberry 8330 with the latest update of both the firmware and software(both on the phone and computer). My problem is that i did an update on my service via the service(it was required for all phones), and after that my internet browser did not show up on my phone. Also my gps does not work due to the fact that it tells me that i do not have that capability, yet my service plan includes internet and GPS. Could my problem be service related or just a malfunction?

I have a bad rating, what prepaid is "best"

I have a bad credit rating. I've never owned a credit card, but have been through a lot of hardship over the years and was unable to pay some huge medical bills much to my shame. Anyways, I hope to go back to work in the next couple of years, God willing, and might choose to drive for a living.

Considering those two things, what prepaid plan is best?

Now I am under the impression that there are phones/plans that involved automatic withdrawls from one's credit/debit account, is that right? I saw a brief news story about Walmart having something new, their own phone system, and a store worker told me it uses both Verizon's AND ATT's cell towers. Is that true?

I have no idea where to start when I am ready to get a phone (roomate and I have been talking about me getting something, I had a Go Phone, but it went unfilled because at the time I didn't have the needed bucks to refill it and now I need a new simcard for it so it is worthless). I have to mention that the Go Phone plan seemed like a ripoff to me. They deducted a dollar for each day I used it, and to tell the truth, I only used the phone a few days a month, but it added up fast.

I don't even know if I am going to get something now or wait, it depends on what there is out there, to be honest, and it seems like every plan I've seen had some bad hitches to them...

[Sprint] Phone with Android and slideout keyboard?

I see that Sprint is releasing two phones with Android on them:
- HTC Hero
- Samsung Moment

The Hero does not have an external keyboard but the Moment does. Aside from that feature... the Hero looks to be the better phone with better features... but I really want an external keyboard.

Anyone know if Sprint plans to have any other phones with Android and an external keyboard?

Pre-Paid Cell Plans Taxes & Fees What States?

I have long read that one of the benefits for pre-paid cell phone plans is that there are no BS taxes and fees. However, in todays mail from the State O' Maine Tax Revenue Service, it states that beginning jan 1st 2010, the 911 surcharge is being added to all pre-paid plan purchases.

In this case, even if you buy just re-fill cards for minutes, you will also be hit with the surcharge.

So now the 911 fee will be $0.37 for each retail transaction for pre-paid services. I can see now that someone who buys say, a 100 minute refill card each week, they will be hit with this tax 4 times a month!

My question now is, are there any other states that are collecting this fee/tax for pre-paid services or are we the guinea pig on this new thing?

Two year contract, two year phone. why not?

So I'm currently with AT&T and the contract runs out literally with the end of this year. That being said, my roomie who I am on the plan with had the rather brilliant idea of getting some unlocked phones to replace our aging (and functionally falling apart) phones, so that we don't have to be contractually obligated to stay with them even if their coverage decides to go (further) south here. Or if either of us has to move to where AT&T is not so good.

However, there is but one thing that bothers me; it's bothered me ever since I had my first cell phone.

Why do phone manufacturers only give a one year warranty, yet every provider gets to lock people onto two year contracts? Save for this KRZR, I myself had yet to have a single phone that hasn't fallen apart after that first year. And then get the same runaround from the carriers' customer service departments, saying I need to spend $1000 (or some other exhorbitant price) on a new phone, or that "they would get you a new one" if you agree to adding another two years to that contract of yours, which pretty much pins you over to paying for service you can't use if your phone just up and croaked.

Having this happen (almost like clockwork) needless to say infuriates the everliving heck out of me. Which is why I liked the idea of going to an unlocked phone... until I had sticker shock with the outrageous prices any that are worth a damn go for.

I just don't know what to do in this situation. I'd be less opposed to signing another contract if I'd actually got a phone that was warrantied the whole time I was on contract, and without having to pay that con-artist's "monthly protection" to get the service I should be getting in the first place. And now I try to look at what I can do with the unlocked route, and asking around locally, and every time I try to do some more research on it, I am just brought into even more anger and frustration about this whole situation.

Are there any phones out there with at least a two year warranty? or a one-time charge to have warranty for that long? I even tried to go to best buy for checking out different phones because I was expecting that at least then I could just pay them the one-time charge for their replacement plan and be done with it (and it would be a lot less painful IMO than a recurring monthly charge)... nope. Best Buy requires a monthly charge on any phones they sell their plan with. This just pissed me off even more.

In all, I'm running out of options here, and I don't know where else to turn for help or even some words of advice. :(

[Sprint] Droid

So who has a Droid phone on Sprint and what model? My 13 year old wants a new phone for Christmas and am looking at a Droid. (She wants an iphone, but I won't go to ATT so it is not an option)

I know some people may question why a 13 year old needs such a phone, but she plays AAA Hockey, travels all over the midwest, is a straight A student. She currently has a Palm Treo and lives on the calendar and email. She syncs everything to her google email and calendar, and she also syncs my calendar to her phone.

I know I could wait for the e72, but I spoke with Nokia this evening and they said AT LEAST Feb. Not waiting that long.

[Verizon] Verizon store makes changes to my plan-I've never been

Here's a good one. Going over my cell bill. Notice one of my daughters is doing more texting. Decide to add a text plan to our plan (doing it online). When I go to check, it shows there already is a text plan on her phone. Hmmm. I didn't put it there.

Call Verizon Wireless. Girl tells me it was added to my plan 2 weeks ago--at a Verizon Wireless store in Portland, Maine. I live in Kingston, NH, 2+ hours away. Never been to Portland. Neither has daughter. When I ask how a change could be made to my plan w/o my authorization girl has no explanation. Says maybe I could call store and see if anyone remembers doing it.

A little scary.
