| [TWC] Roll out date for the Samsung H3090
I JUST got off the phone with a TW rep, probably in another country, who had NO F#%CKING clue what I was talking about; the standard experience ANYONE has EVER gotten with dealing with TW.
I want to get rid of the SA 8300HD DVR for the Samsung H3090 box and was asking for WHEN they would be available, she said I can go trade it at any time.
I asked if the H3090 is available she said she doesnt know...
Can anyone tell me if the H3090 is available? If not, any word WHEN? |

| said by Anonymous_ :that is clueless techsupport for you The call centers are one of the last groups to be told dates. If you tell a call center agent a date he tells customers. dates have a tendency to change often and I mean often.
Now you have a bunch of customers calling back to find out why the date they were told has not been met.
That's why you will rarely get a date unless its set in stone.

| reply to HATE TW It's still too early to tell if it will come out. I believe both boxes are in testing. Thats what my division's president said. The Samsung SMT-H3090 runs the same software as the 8300HDC but has better specs. It can run MPEG-4 and multi room DVR. TWC might be really nice to us and order them with 320 GB HDD's. That too is worth swapping. Having an extra 160 GB helps with all the new HD content. I don't think they'll do a mass MPEG-4 rollout due to all the legacy MPEG-2 boxes. MPEG-4 does use less bandwidth than MPEG-2. |

| reply to HATE TW I hope something new comes out soon, this SA 8300HD DVR, I have sucks. It always locking up on us. Every time we try to rent a movie, it locks up. Yes I have called tech support and they have sent out 3 techs, cannot find anything wrong, after I called again 4th tech to come out, connected some device to the line saying signal to the house was to strong. Maint. came out fixed that problem was fine for a few weeks then started again, have had 2 more techs out and say nothing wrong, they replaced our boxes as well still same problem. We no longer rent movies from TWC, because it more trouble than it worth. Does anyone have any thoughts what else we can do? I talked to guy in our area that does side jobs that works for TWC and said something about there a loop that connects everything for our division, that was just installed last year or something along those lines and said the bandwidth was already maxed out, and they have nothing but problems with it. Not sure if that has to do with my problem or not, sorry I don't recall the details of what he was saying either. |

Not the Box's problem tho.

| reply to HATE TW Thank you for the info. Is this the same reason, we get the message several times a day that our boxes have no access, and then number comes up on the screen? We have to then call in and they do something and boxes start working again. We always pay our bill on time, and been with TWC for 15 yrs, and really starting to get old. This been going on since the OCAP upgrade, so I just assumed it was with the box since they sent so many tech out. |

Are they ditching them or are they going to keep them as well? |

They will have a ton of 8300/8240 boxes so they will want to clear up the inventory before deploying the Samsung DVR. |

| reply to HATE TW I hope they do something soon. The SA 8xxx boxes are beyond trash!! I've been thru a number of them, all with the same problems: random freezes, loss of audio, incomplete recordings, slow tuning, pixelization, etc., etc.. Pure junk, these boxes are!
If I put a product on the market with as many problems and glitches as these things have, I'd be out of business before I started. This is what happens with near-monopolies and lack of competition. -- When in danger or in doubt run in circles, scream and shout! |

Strange. I have 2 8300 HDC boxes for just over a year and have had none of the issues you appear to have.
I would suspect you have some form of signal issues that are causing your issues...I doubt its the boxes.

| Are you running Navigator or SARA. The 8300HDC's aren't as good with Navigator since they are using an OCAP version. The 8300HDC isn't really meant for OCAP. It could be the signal. Then again TWC San Diego always puts the latest version of Navigator on to their boxes. |
