Or at least some with a decent cap? Are there any? |

| Well, they officially don't have a cap, according to their site anyway. But their is a discussion among Mcom users about whether or not Mcom is using soft cap because some users have recieved emails warning them to cut down on usage. Though I believe most of those people use about 25-50gb per month. For more info you might wanna chaeck this thread out, »10GB "cap" now enforced |

| Many people use from 10-20gb without problems. It's just that there are some who are using 50-100gb and that's unacceptable so Mcom is trying to cut them back without enforcing a cap on everyone. I really can't see myself ever using more than maybe 20gb, and 50 is almost impossible for me. 10-15gb will keep me happy. |

| If you can keep your total usage under 20GB you should be fine. Do you know if there are any fixed wireless ISPs in your area? They would work MUCH better for gaming on line I know I use a fixed WISP.

| reply to me1212 Yes i was asking about Mcom-what is it, how can i get it because a 20gb cap is alot better that a 5gb. because we just got this card so we still have time to send it back, if we have to get something new from Mcom. the card speed was like 100-140ms ping and i live like 10 plus mile from town. download was 800 and upload was 350 average i would say give or take |

And did you already check to see if there r any fixed WISPs? The ping for them will be better. |

| reply to Tyler07 MCom defaults to Verizon's network unless you can't get a Verizon signal. Then they'll send you a Sprint card.
Not sure about 20GB of usage...a friend was told to scale back when he's using 15GB I believe. 10GB is doable though from what I hear. At any rate, a soft cap is a whole lot better than 5¢/MB.
So if you're using Verizon right now MCom would be no different network-wise. Just different customer service and a more lax cap policy.
By the way, you should check out »evdotips.blogspot.com if you plan on using your EvDO for awhile; lots of great info there. |

| Gaming, as far as actual gameplay is concerned, doesn't take up a ton of bandwidth. I'm not a gamer but from what I've gathered 100 kbps is a liberal estimate for gameplay, though downloading maps, updates, etc. might hurt you. For three hours you're looking at 100MB if that. Gaming isn't what'll kill you, though 5GB isn't much to work with.
If I might ask, who's the WiSP in question? Maybe you can work out a deal with them so they'll install service for you if you promise to limit usage until they get more bandwidth in. Maybe set a number at 10GB, and track it with a router flashed with DD-WRT or Tomato (you can get a Linksys WRT54GL for $60ish, versus more for a similarly functional EvDO router). Just a thought. |
