Losing DSL synch while online gaming

Anyone have an explanation why this would be happening? It's been going on now every time I play on one specific game server so far. Haven't had trouble like this on any other server yet.

Questions like this are pointless without posting modem statistics
While gaming you can loose a connection but not sync. It does not depend on traffic.

Hi mrpoe,

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. When you say that you are loosing sync can you be more specific? Are you being disconnected from the game? Do you actually see the Sync/DSL light on the modem blink?

If you are just being disconnected from the game server and its a specific game server you may want to provide some ping and tracerout tests to the game server IP (which you can get from the game company) and we will have a better idea of where the problem might be.

No need for the snarkyness.

I am losing DSL SYNC, meaning the DSL SYNC light on the DSL MODEM is going OFF. I'm not just losing the connection to the server.

I actually just lost sync moments ago, and I wasn't even gaming.

Am I being throttled? Because it now seems that when I get bandwidth intensive, something is disrupting my DSL SYNC (still meaning the DSL status light on the modem is going OFF).

Hi Mrpoe,

If the DSL light goes off it has nothing to do with the game or game server so you would have to troubleshoot it like any other intermittent sync issue. Check the inside wiring and make sure you have nothing connected without a filter. Make sure the modem itself is not filtered. Make sure you are using a short phone-cord for the modem and avoid using a splitter in the jack the modem is in. If you would like me to take a look at the line I would be happy to if you want to send me a PM with the account info for the account in question.

The modem is the only device plugged into the phone jack in the room I have it in.

My telephone in my living room is connected with a filter.

This sync loss issue is something that has shown up in the last week or two. I haven't had(or noticed) this problem before.

Line readings look good. The line is experiencing some errors. The shorter the phone-cord may help. Have you tried leaving that one phone that is connected unplugged and seeing if you still have the problem? If you continue to have issues please give us a call as we will likely need to create a trouble ticket with the phone-company or try a new modem.

I will try the short phone cord first, then unplug the phone next. If I still have trouble, I'll be back to report.

Okay!

So I switched the phone cord I used for the DSL modem and have also unplugged the telephone.

I am here to report that I am still losing DSL sync, as I just saw the DSL light go out and come back on seconds ago from this post.

Hi mrpoe -

Please give our support team a call at 866-491-7221. If you are losing sync still we will want to open up a ticket with AT&T to have the line tested and have a phone company technician dispatched out to your location to isolate the line and test. Unfortunately I am currently out of the office and am unable to open that for you.

Thanks

I take this means I can plug my phone back in?

Did you have an opportunity to reach out to our support team? They may have you unplug the phone to test during trouble shooting but until then you can leave it plugged in.

Thanks

Just wanted to follow up here:

Support got in touch with me and they had a tech from AT&T sent out who said nothing was wrong. I don't know if that's truly the case because the problem went away after the visit, so I think some sort of adjustment must have been made, but I don't know what.

All is good now though!

Thanks for the help, DSLX!
