| [HD] Lost Channels In One Room-What?!?!?!?!?!
Ok, we have 4 HD Boxes. 3 of them are upstairs, one is downstairs.
We have been getting HD channels like Speed (620), HD Theater (663), USA HD (672), etc.
Suddenly, downstairs in the living room, we get almost NO HD channels, but upstairs, we still get all the same channels.
I unplugged the power from the cable box downstairs, then plugged it back in. Got the channels for about 15 secconds, then I get the "NOT AUTHORIZED" screen with all the channels in the 600s.
Again, Upstairs was not effected.
I called Comcast and they sent a signal to the box downstairs, and that changed nothing.
Then the rep told me that I should not have those channels, because I'm not paying for them. It's a mistake in the other rooms-WTF!! (I'm in property management, so my service was setup by a local rep, but that should not make a difference)
So I sent an e-mail to the rep that I deal with, because she has helped me with issues before, but the rep on the phone really ticked me off.
Is there anything I can do-or am I SOL until Monday. LOL |

| reply to koshoka I don't know why I wouldn't.
I was getting some channels above 600 right when the boxes were installed a few months ago, then I looked at the channel guide and noticed that there were some I was not getting and I asked if I should be and she said yes, the next day, I had them.
It just does not make sense to lose channels on one box and not the other.
Now that I think about it. I had to go though a lot to get everything straight with my account, the rep I called probably looked at an old account or something. Who knows.
I guess we'll see what the rep that I usually deal with says on Monday. |

| reply to caddyroger I believe it would be considered digital starter, but I'm not totally sure. That's what the brochure I have in front of me says, but I've been told these are not always correct. There are actually channels missing from this brochure because of the local transitions. |

Nah, it's a rate code issue, the channels are showing as "not authorized". If it was a signal issue the box would display "one moment please" -- ******* Disclaimer: I am a Comcast employee. I don't know what your specific channel line up is, but I would not expect you to be able to access those channels with digital starter. -- ******* Disclaimer: I am a Comcast employee. | Yeah, I know there are multiple channels I am not suppossed to get in the 600 range, but I know there are some that I am.
I forgot to mention a couple things:
-The first thing I did was unplug the power from the cable box for a minute or two. Then when I plugged it back in, I had the channels for about 15-20 secconds, then I got the not authorized message.
-After I talked to the rep on the phone, I could channel to Speed on 620, but got the not authorized message, but could not channel any higher, it's almost like what she did made it worse.
I thought about swapping the boxes. I might do that later today if I get bored. LOL
Thanks everyone!! |

| reply to caddyroger UPDATE:
The rep e-mailed me and said it should be taken care of...
It's not.
I swapped the boxes and the box that was not getting the channels, is still not getting them in another room, but at least we have all the HD we are paying for downstairs where we really want it.
I'm waiting for conformation from Comcast that I should get a new box. |

| reply to vetteboy So the box that doesnt work was moved to a different outlet and it still didnt work? And the box that did work was moved downstairs and it still worked? Sounds like a box issue. Its unlikely that rate codes could just fall off an outlet. The channels that are missing suggest that its not a rate code issue. IF you were say missing all HBO's one one box, or all the the sports tier could suggest rate code issues. The fact that your getting other channels but missing HD Theater and USA HD further suggest a box issue. IF its a cable card box it may need a force validation but i dont think that will still get it. IF you have a service center nearby just take it in and swap it out. |

| Yeah, I plan to get another box on Monday from a local Comcast store in Federal Way.
Yes, the box that was moved into the place of the bad box is working fine. I'm convinced it's the box. The problem moves to another room when I move the box. |
