| [WIN7] VNC question
I am sorry if this is a stupid question, I admit my ignorance.
I have a mixed network, Macs and PCs. I loaded Tight VNC to a PC laptop (XP) and can see the Macs, no problem. When running Linux on the Desktop PC, I could see that as well, pretty simple.
Now, I loaded WIN7 on the desktop PC. What exactly do I need to do to turn on remote access and see it from other systems? Linux offered a pretty obvious control panel to set up remote login/viewing. I am likely missing something pretty obvious, but it's not like I can pick up the manual just yet.....

| If you want to use VNC, you need to install the VNC server. It's not part of Windows.
Mind you, using VNC from Windows to Windows is an unnatural act in the first place. Use the much-better and built-in Windows Remote Desktop.
(Assuming your version of Windows 7 has it. For XP you need the Pro version to have incoming remote access; for Vista you need Business or Ultimate). |

Can I see the Win7 machine via network, 192.168.1.xxx and just browse shared folder? That would let me use it as a server, even without viewing desktop. |
